About Kabankalan City
The City of Kabankalan was converted into a Component City of the Province of Negros Occidental on August 2, 1997 by virtue of RA 8297.
With its strategic location in the southern part of the Negros Island, Kabankalan is now becoming one of the most progressive and fast developing city in the Negros Occidental Province, as well as a major trading center in the island.
The City is strategically located at the Southern part of Negros Occidental. It is bounded on the North by the City of Himamaylan, Panay Gulf on the Northwest, Municipality of Ilog on the southwest and the Province of Negros Oriental on the southeast. Due to its strategic location, it greatly influenced the economic, development activities in the southern part of Negros Island. The City serves as the trading center of the influence area and with the opening of Kabankalan-Mabinay cross mountain National highway.
The City serves as the gateway to Southern Negros Island Cities and Municipalities and is easily accessible by land through the provincial road. It is 97 kms from Bacolod City and 100 kms from Dumaguete City.
